Dear families,
In Language, we
are beginning our unit on fables. These
timeless stories will help us delve into the magical world of fantasy while
learning about morals, classical characters, and the paradigm of right and
wrong. This unit will help students
understand things elements such as: plot, character, and setting. After the March break, each student will
compose their own fable and publish it with creative illustrations and
narration. All students should be working on completing Spelling list 20 activity pages for
this Thursday.
In Math, we are
learning about 2-D geometry and building tangram pictures with polygons.
In Social Studies,
the grade 3 students will explore the historical world of Pioneers in Canada. This unit will focus on explaining how the
early settlers valued, used and looked after natural resources; comparing
aspects of life in early settler communities and present day communities;
describing the major components of early settlement (education, blacksmith,
church etc.)
The Grade 2 students will begin a new Science unit on the properties of liquids and solids. The big ideas
of this unit are: Materials that exist as liquids and solids have specific
properties. Liquids and solids interact in different ways. Some liquids and
solids can be harmful to us and the environment.

Reminders
- Read a
text every night for 15 minutes. As you read, think about the narrative
perspective, your opinion about certain events that take place in the
story and the big idea/lesson of the text.
