As we begin Chapter 6 in Mathematics which is Number Sense and Numeration, the students
will be taking part in a variety of learning activities. Every Friday there will be an addition/subtraction drill with 50 basic questions. Students
will be given 2 minutes to complete as many facts as possible. Each student will track his/her personal
results on a graph and be asked to get a parent signature before the next
Friday. This will help each student develop quick mathematic computational
skills. Take a look at the activity the students did today in pairs to represent,
compare and order whole numbers!

January 28-February 1
This week we look forward to having artist Brenda Mc Donald teach us some impressionist painting techniques! Students will be bringing home their own masterpieces to share with their family members.
In Math, students will write the test on Measurement on Tuesday and begin Chapter 6 on Wednesday.
Grade 2: The math focus in Chapter 6 is Place Value and understanding the value of numbers to 100.
Grade 3: The math focus in Chapter 6 is Adding and Subtracting with greater numbers.
I will be sending home a parent letter to provide you with some more information about the above math units.
In Language, the students will learn how to respond to texts and evaluate them by expressing their personal thoughts and feelings. One text we will focus on is The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka.
In Science, we will continue to look at various structures and simple machines.
